Costas C. Hamakiotes

Costas moved to Manhattan in 1990. He is highly knowledgeable of the neighborhoods, schools, and unique offerings. He focuses on residential and commercial sales and rentals, but most importantly, on meeting each client’s goals. With an extensive background in finance, Costas sees all real estate transactions as an investment. He is deliberate in guiding each buyer and seller through the process, and finding the right strategies to achieve the best value.

Hailing from Pasadena, CA, Costas was raised in Greece. He came to the US for college and received multiple degrees from the University of California, Berkeley (B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, M.Sc. and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering). He was the first in his family to ever go to college and a true first-generation American dream story. Costas spent two years at a division of Rockwell International working on the main engines of the Space Shuttle. He moved on to Wall Street, joining such top-tier firms as Salomon Brothers, Credit Suisse First Boston, Lehman Brothers, and Cantor Fitzgerald over 33 years, then started two hedge funds, and was last at Brevan Howard.

Costas subsequently ventured into real estate. His expertise in mathematics and engineering taught him to deal with problems having exact answers, and to be logical, methodological, and solutions-driven. In contrast on Wall Street, where trading and investing have no exact answer, he perfected the arts of analysis, resourcefulness, and attention to detail on an even greater level.

He is an expert in Greek real estate where he owns properties in several cities. He brings access and advice for purchases in the fast-evolving real estate market in Greece, be they for investment purposes, Golden Visas, primary or secondary residence, or just for vacation purposes. Conversely, he assists Greek nationals and international buyers who want to buy real estate in New York, and the US, in general.

Costas and his wife have raised four children in NYC. His love and passion for this city is complemented by his dedication to his clients. As a Wexford Realty agent, he puts their interests first and nurtures relationships that do not end when the deal closes. Costas is equally appreciated for his hard work ethic, loyal, dependable nature, and the courtesy and respect he brings to all interactions.

Over the years, he has rented and owned properties and dealt with many professionals in real estate transactions, financing, construction and renovations. Costas currently owns at Southgate where he resides, an apartment in Tudor City, a house in CT, and 25 acres in Woodstock, NY where he built a home. Costas is bilingual in English and Greek. He enjoys cooking, making sourdough bread and wine, and vacationing on the water.
